This is a tune I wrote about moving to Nashville from Florida. We'll be moving from a 3 year house to a 60 year old farm house. Some of our friends can not understand why we would want to do such a thing. It's a litttle thing called addition by subtraction. Sometimes you have give up a little to get what you really want.
From the Techy end of things... The steel guitar track is comprised of chopped up bits of loops from Jam Pack 3. The Bass is still a software instrument at this point, I'll eventually play it for real. It's also comprised of modified loops. The Banjo track at the end is also a modified loop from JamPack 3. The Mandolin in the break is also a loop from GarageBand. The drums are also modified loops. Everything else was played. A few folks have asked me what I mean by modified loops. Well, if it's a midi based loop I just move the notes to where I need them to be. I just need to find a pattern I like and then I just move the notes to fit the chord progression. If it's an audio based loop like the steel guitar, then it get's a bit more messy. But mostly I just take the bits of the loop that fit and discard the rest. Then I just take the good bits and piece them together until it works.
