Song Information:
When New Orleans was under the French Crown, during the early 18th century, a street in the French Quarter was named Rue du Maine. Later on New Orleans became the capital of the Spanish province of Louisiana (1762-1803) this same street then bore the name Calle del Maine. During the 19th century the name was Americanized and now bears the name Dumaine Street.
Composition of this music was inspired by the street brass bands of New Orleans which go back to the 19th century up to the present. Originally of a European sound and later on Caribbean Creole jazzy elements combined.
