This is probably my favorite melody of all time. I've recorded 3 or four different versions of it and have learned to play it on a variety of instruments. I have several versions of it by other artists also ranging from new age to my beloved Pogues.
Anyway, I was thinking about it again recently and since yesterday I had the day off from work I decided to give it another go. This is different than other versions I've done which have been more tradtional renditions of the song.
For this version I used electric guitar, 12 string acoustic guitar, 6 string acoustic guitar, penny whistle, bodhran, tambourine, a couple of software instruments (organ and cello) and 4 loops (drums and three vocal loops from the world music jam pack).
