There is an old story in India of Kali in a rage tearing her lover, Shiva, to pieces and scattering them across the land.

Later, of course, she realises what has happened and has to go and try to gather all the pieces back togeher.

I distinctly remember my partner shouting incoherently and throwing a plate across the room, watching it shatter on the far wall.

It was the one cracked plate.
