Song Information:
i have gotten lots of email after posting this song and thought i would add some info. this is not a song about celebrating war. it is a song stating a fact. nor am i celebrating soldiering. simply stating somethiing i think we all forget sometimes. soldiers don't run, they die.
i started out writing a song that when i read the words from the dreamer in the song (the lady that is pleading with the soldier to run before death comes) i realized i needed to let the soldier respond and the conclusion i reached was what the solider ends up replying back to the dreamer.
the song came into being because i had this thing eating at me. what if soldiers the world over just walked off the job and again it hit me like a ton of bricks. it will never happen. why? because soldiers don't run, they just die.
it is one of the things that would have to happen in order for the world to know peace. we can all be peace loving souls but until soldiers walk off the job peace will always be a dream.
and what would happen on that day? my feeling is the evil in mankind would exploit it somehow and we'd all be no better off for it.
a thought for another song that has yet to be finished.
Song Lyrics:
the sun it rise the same round the world each day
its a shame love can't be the same
guess no hearts get mendin' on this dark n dismal day
cuz the bullets they fly rippin' open the sky
you can hear her scream
"soldier run 'for death get here,
soldier run just as far as you can away"
n the soldier say
"lets get one thing perfectly clear
soldiers don't run they just die"
death come disguised in many shape n form
tears of rage that fall kill any chance of love being born
hate it rule where anger lies
truths get twisted blame gets shifted
but you can still hear her cry
"soldier run 'for death get here,
soldier run just as far as you can away"
n the soldier say
"lets get one thing perfectly clear..."
can i get an amen can i get a witness can i get an hallelujah
"soldiers don't run they just die"
can i get an amen can i get a witness can i get an hallelujah
