Song Information:
Over the course of time, the Frogmorton Band suffered the entropic effects any band laboring in obscurity is bound to, and went their separate ways. Cleland continued and deepened a lifelong passion for malt beverages, Agnetha (pronounced ann-yetta, btw) and Angus broke off from the band to continue as a duo, and Silas pursued a solo career as a folksinger. This final track for the Unseen Hand ep was actually recorded as a track for a Silas Frogmorton CD, but by happy chance contains the full prime-era lineup of the Frogmorton band. One listens to this folksy but still quite direct track and wonders what might have been.
Silas had switched instruments to acoustic guitar, and session pro Scott "Wolfman" Pell holds down the bottom end. Lineup for this track is
Agnetha Frogmorton -- Drums & Percussion
Scott "Wolfman" Pell -- Bass
Silas Frogmorton -- Acoustic Guitar & Vocals
Angus Frogmorton -- Organ
Cleland Frogmorton -- 12 String Guitar
Song Lyrics:
I stood upon the rocks
And looked for souvenirs
The day was grey and cloudy
But there was no rain to fear
At the bottom of the crater
There was rusted twisted iron
I was standing on the edge
I saw half a million years
C
There's a big hole in the land
From a stone thrown by an unseen hand
I stood upon the sidewalk
Said "no" to the souvenirs
The day was cold and windy
There was darkness very near.
Down below me was a crater
There were broken concrete bones
As I stood there on the edge
I felt a sadness I've never known
C
B
What is the hand of fate
What is the hand of man
Is it all hate we create
I guess I just don't understand
Well, I stood on the capitol mall
Heard a hundred thousand cheer
We said "don't want no Iraq war"
and we said it loud and clear.
And I ain't no terrorist
And I hold my country dear
But I don't believe in war
And I say so without fear.
