Ogronios means Ice Time and is generally (but not always) taken to be the Celtic name for the time of year during the lunar cycle that sits astride the latter part of February and the early part of March.
Wherever I've lived this has been a time when Spring is reclaiming the earth, buds emerge and the longer days presage the vernal equinox. So this piece is in anticipation of (and to celebrate) the arrival of spring.
On this track I play fiddle and bodhran (which, as I've been asked, is an Irish drum hit with a two headed beater...)
