The Doors of the Kingdom

Doors

Knocking on the Door

Stuart Walker resides in a place called Ireland. Today is a very special day for Irish folk. It is St. Patricks Day and I thought that a great way to get in the mood, would be to mosey over to the Doors of the Kingdom, bang very loudly and if that doesn't work, ring the Gumbo bell for an eclectic blog of musical good. Remember to wear something green.

Something for Everyone

If you like a bit of blues, folk, dub or anything else, enter the Doors of the Kingdom, subscribe to the Stuart Walker podcast - Rhythm Radio, or cram your iPod full of funk, fun and folk from that very nice fella - Mr Stuart Walker.

Color your iPod

BananaKiller

We Love Color

The BananaKiller is a wonderfully strange Banana. A mac music maker from the beautiful St. Tropez, France. BK's latest album, "We love color" is a tribute to the world of hue and color, all painted with music. The thing I love most about BK is the humor, each track is brimming with joy. If you ever feel down, this album is guaranteed to cheer your spirits. Life in BK land is very joyous, probably helped by the nice climate and beautiful people of St. Tropez. BK's passion is mainly dance music and his flair for this genre is apparent but doesn't end there. It's BK's take on the genre which is different.

A happy banana

Experience the wonderful world of The BananaKiller's music or better still buy from CD Baby or the iTMS.

iPod in a bottle

Bottled Tunes

Composed and inspired by the academically charged air of Cambridge, England. "Songs from the River" is the title to a new album from Paul "Bottled" Brazier. Paul has lovingly pieced together a mac production that is full to the brim with melodic, guitar driven tunes which you can bottle in your iPod. More trippy than a gallon of Absinth and fresher than Perrier. It washes through you, leaving you wonderfully refreshed and inspired.

Bottle this

If you have got the bottle to drink from Paul's cup you will be rewarded by Brit Rock at it's finest. From the beautiful "Another Day" to "Emeralds and Diamonds", Bottled will make you drunk with tone and harmony. Inspired by Syd Barrett, Gong, John Peel and the wonderful Cake, this is an album that will take your iPod to new exciting places.

Bottled Space

"A Trip to the Stars" is pure, Bottled space, an intergalactic journey on the rocket ship Telecaster which leads you into the awesome "Ocean of Light". "Another Day" and "So Beautiful" are a great start to the album and will prepare you for a trip on "Dr Mystiks Magic Flying Tea Towel" or even to make a little love on the up-tempo "Tonite".

A river runs through it

You can listen to many of the tracks for free but to really get the most from Bottled, you really should buy "Songs from the River".

Bent Not Broken

Bent

Maggie Osterberg was one of the first artists to join Macidol. Known for her Media Wench site and for sometimes very forthright views. She works tirelessly for this site and if you want an honest opinion - she will deliver. The same can be said of her music.

Not Broken

Bent, Not Broken is an eclectic mix of tunes. Using copious amounts of gorgeous guitars and basses, she puts it all together using GarageBand and a Mac. "Night Bless America" a duo with George W is a trippy experiment which leads into "Paging Billy Reid" a lament to fellow Macidoler Billy Reid - the master of the pin-hole mic. Next up is "Mystery Turtle" which has some lovely licks and effects. Funny, all of the songs are different, but they all sound like Maggie. It's a very hard album to pigeon-hole - which is why I won't bother. Some music defies categories and this album is in a place of it's own. This is 14 tracks of inspiring and thought provoking music that should appeal to broad-minded musicians and listeners alike. Silicon Cowboy Sunset, Red Cow and LovMon being some of my faves.

Discover the wonderful world of Maggie Osterberg for yourself and bend your iPod.

Master of the Podacaster

Podcast

Steve "B&Massa" Jay aka Kilroy da Geek is one of Macidol's star iPod troopers. This week, Steve's popular podcast - Blues Radio has been given high praise and 5 stars from Podspider. This is just one string to B&Massa's bow though - he has many others. Not least is his fantastic collection of music

Get Blues Radio on your iPod

Blues Radio is a weekly or monthy podcast of some of the hotter tunes from this music community. Produced and presented by Steve it is a personal and fun way to find some new tunage for your iPod. Download the latest issue and see which music grabs your ears, Steve will then tell you where you can download it too.

The B&Massa Music Store

The B&Massa music store lists Steve's CD's which you may order directly from him. I am a very proud owner of Steve's first CD - "The Other One". This chronicles some of Steve's work prior to GarageBand and is a great introduction to the music of one of Tasmanians finest. Steve has two other CD's for sale too. "Karma Sutra" explores amongst other subjects unromantic sex and hamsters! Sounds like a perverts wet dream but the title track regularly smashes up the charts and Idea Hamster is an essential listen. "Wall Jelly" is Steve's latest CD. It represents years of work, playing and recording and I am pleased to say doesn't disapoint. This labour of love is Steve's most personal piece yet and gets close to the heart of one of the warmest and hard working people, I have ever known.

As Mac users we have for years been excluded by Nazi web designers, who won't let us access their websites unless we have some flavour of I.E. web browser - we know how much this sucks. We are keen to end this O.S. Racism and bend over backwards to ensure that all users have a great listening experience.
