Multiple Audio Interfaces - SimultaneouslyI need to record 3 live tracks at the same time. My Audio Interface can use a Max of 2 mics. I have two audio Interfaces. Can I use two Audio Interfaces at the same time for recording 3 tracks at the same time?
Mur
Yes.
iirc you need to use the application "Audio Midi setup". You will find this in your utilities folder. Then once in the app you need to go to the menu bar and click on "Audio" and then select "Open Aggregate Device editor". This is where you can do your thang. unfortunately I have only one device and only know this much... hope to have helped.
Here's the full skinny on how in my Aggregate Audio tutorial.
Using the "Aggregate Audio" feature (only available in Mac OS X 10.4 or later) in Audio MIDI Setup, you can combine multiple audio devices into a single virtual device. All Apple audio apps (Soundtrack Pro, Logic Pro/Express and Garage Band) will work with this, although you must only have 2 mono output channels (or 1 stereo) when using the device with Garage Band. Most third party audio apps will work with aggregate devices, but the notable exception is the opensource app, Audacity, which doesn't play well with Garage Band presently and doesn't work at all with aggregate audio.
