A Guide To The Best of MacIdol Music (as chosen by its members)
The (dead simple) rules: pick three songs that have caught your ear by other MacIdol artists and post links to them here with a short description. Just link to artist's jamrooms and songs, please.
Choices can be discussed in this companion topic. This thread is just for your picks, ala the Artist's Choice thread.

Paul Brazier
Paul just released a CD of his music, and here are three of my favorites:
"So Beautiful"
A brilliant bit of retro-Brit, with echos of The Who, The Kinks and maybe just a teensey bit of the ol' Pinks.
"Everyone I Know (Cale Version)"
Dancing the fine line of self-promotion, this is a collaboration between myself and Mr. B, but it should be known that he brought all the good bits to this bit of glam rock nirvana.
"Ocean Of Light"
A bit of Brit-pop, with dueling slide guitars towards the end.

Me And Boris The Bull
"Ballerine en Blue"
A deceptively simple acoustic pop song that reminds me of XTC's best acoustic work.
B&Massa
"KarmaSutra"
Easily his most popular song, thanks to its title, it's also one of his best! A snakey groove with seductive textures and an Ennio Morricone inspired guitar solo make for a sexy fun tune with a message.
Talkin Ape
"The Skunk"
Best use of the "96 Tears" keyboard riff since the original, hands down! I be chillin' with Rich, who r00lz.

Wanna be your friend
by Fingers is really what it's all about. Pretty cool song.
The Song That Saved the World
by Blacklily is pretty cool too and may also be what it's all about, especially if you are feeling experimental.
New Sensation
by Jenkins MacKenzie is pretty cool because he's new and he's putting up all these sort of short funny/quirky songs. I don't know anything about him but that's okay with me. One of the best things about MacIdol is that you get to hear odd stuff like this.

Fosco Brockhouse
"Last Train Out"
Fosco's competition 2 entry, it's a glorious mess of textures and movement and it may just hold the record for most tracks in a Garageband song EVER.
-----------
Aneta and mc Mong
"Why Is It Hard"
This song is an unbeatable combination of gorgeous singing and soulful rapping over a smooth groove.
-----------
Joanna Sandsmark
"Serial Killer"
Joanna shows off her voice acting and production chops, in addition to her prodigious singing and songwriting skills. A departure from her usual style, true, but just as compelling as her more traditional Jazz songs.

Joanna Sandsmark
"Smooth as Silk"
I've just been pipped! My first one is a Joanna song. I loved it the first time I heard it, and still play it regularly. And it won the latest MacIDOL competition too. What a great voice she has!
Sp3ccylad
"Guilty"
One minute of delight! Great song with a really catchy melody. What an ending! Should be longer.
Hunksten Proudfoot
"Time Flies"
This guy is a loopmeister! I really like his music - this is one of my favourites. Great atmosphere in this tune. Hope you like it too.
My three. I could have picked thirty!

The Tiler
Like an Angel
The Tiler has a command for the 6 string that is truly exceptional. The vox on this particular tunage reminds me of another artist known as Catfish Keith a personal friend n favorite 6 string gun slinger of mine. But The Tiler makes this his own with a classic scaling that shows his fingering ability.
Scotious
Half a Hurricane
One of my all time favorite tunes at macIDOL or anywhere else for that matter. The vox delivery reminds me of Rickie Lee Jones a lil bit. The music aspect of this truly is inspirational.
Justin Torn
The Hand That Feeds(Bluegrass Remix)
This tunage reflects what would happen if The Stone Temple Pilots met Doc Watson in a dark alley on a cold winters night. I really like how this is mixed up.
Foot Notes:
These just touch the surface of some of my fav's at macIDOL. I have many but these are tunes that have stuck with me. I will post some more when time allows.
Artists Name will take ya to the jamroom. Song Title will load the Hi-Fi

WOW! Thanks for the personal picks! I looked at this thread earlier in the week and had to think so hard to recall over a years listening on Macidol and guiltily have forgotten the names of many of the notable tunes and artists. That of course makes the purpose of this thread all the more important.
But here are a few...
Mary Carradine - Metropolitan
I don't know why but every time I listen to this it strikes me deep and almost reduces me to tears. It has a sensitivity and flows so beautifully. Music can be so powerful and this song just gets me.. right here. I love this song.
Listen to all of Mary's songs.
Satori Day - Zoetrope
Like Radiohead. I like Radiohead. I like this. Its well done.
SugarPill - Blackbelt
Oddly this keeps popping up in my iTunes with random regularity and its fun. It captures a particular time... OMD/Human League... simple but effective.
Mmmm only three artists for the moment. It really could be 53..so
I practically downloaded all of the tunes by Red Lunar Skywalker. Ambient and Dub.
As dub goes Studio 41 are making every moment of each song count.
For a bit of solid rock from Liverpool visit The Van Buren Brothers
...and staying in the locality if you don't listen to all of the songs ASHWAN feat. Curious now you will be kicking yourself when they turn up in a record store near you.
Well maybe I have it down to less than 50 left to choose.. and I am only scratching the surface of Macidol's library of excellence.
Save the bees.

Here are my picks:
Me and Boris the Bull
(Look At Me) I'm a Star!
I love this song. I love the music and the performance, but most of all, I love the lyrics. Great storytelling, and a clear message. This song is so well done!
James Bouchard
Why Am I Still Here?
When I first heard this I got tears in my eyes. I usually don't respond as strongly to instrumental pieces as I do to those with lyrics, but Jim's performance on this transcended that, making words completely unnecessary. The story of his aunt, told with an emotional guitar, is compelling.
SlimGirlFat
I Wanna Be On Fire
This was one of the first songs I heard from Slimmie and I still love it. It's a bit of a departure from her usual songs, as it's a sassy little jazz tune. I just love that swanky performance.

Mary Carradine
more of us will live than die
Simply put Mary has a very straight forward style that i respect and admire. She proves music alone can indeed be full of emotion and does it really well with this tunage.
Shiloh Lindsey
My favorite Cowboy
One damn fine artist singer songwriter. period. Wonderfully performed. chilling vox and solid lyrics.
Obsidian
Metalsong
I really dig what this cat does with his axe. one of macIDOL.com's heavy metal wizards.
