MacIDOL Mobile

Postby chrooke » Mon Aug 02, 2010 11:20 pm

I have installed the Jamroom Mobile Module, so now we have a version of the site designed for mobile users.

Here's the link, but it should only work from mobile devices. Other browsers should bring up the normal page:

http://macidol.com/jamroom/mobile

Mobile devices are supposed to redirect to this automatically. At this point this feature appears to be broken, so you'll have to go to the mobile link manually.

Well I added the macIdol widget to my iPod Touch homescreen and that's pretty cool. Right now it only leads to a page that shows the Songs or Artists that have most plays or highest ratings, and then you can search by Artist to find a particular artist. So it's not perfect, but it's sort of neat to have a Macidol App now. Maybe the functionality will improve so that it will be able to play songs off the front page, that way I can keep up with new songs on my iPod Touch.

You know you can always put the RSS feed into iTunes as a podcast, then get everything that is new and downloadable whenever you sync.

Ah, but then I am bloating my iTunes library, and I don't get to choose what looks interesting to listen to from the list of new songs. I used to use the RSS feed but disabled it after trying it for a while. Maybe I'm weird but I just don't like to download then have to delete what I don't like. I like being able to browse first then download.
