Summer 2008 Update

The tech hurdles referred to in my first post have been cleared. I finally figured out how to record guitar, thanks to my fearlessness with randomly clicking buttons and rearranging cables into every possible permutation. It's quite easy once you know how, as with most everything. I now have a few songs on which I have added a few electrified guitar bits. It takes a lot more work to make those songs, and it's been a lazy summer. When the weather cools, I'll most likely be more inspired to put in the work. Also, I should probably learn to play... and how to compose. Details, details. |

Welcome to my MacIdol site. I make these (virtually tuneless) songs with Logic Express on an iMac 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo with 2GB of RAM. I'm fairly new to this, but it's been fun learning. It has been surprisingly satisfying to have discovered that I have access to all these wonderful musical sounds, when I was originally just shopping for a drum machine to play guitar over. For awhile I just patched together loops, and that was fun in itself, but when I realized that I could manipulate MIDI sounds, including rhythms, tempos, up to full wall-of-sound arrangements, then bounce to MP3, well, hey. I found myself feeling the challenge to create my own music, which is a challenge indeed, since my musical vocabulary is somewhat rudimentary. Much to learn. |
