B&Massa
"A Darkened Room Remosterberged"
:[ info ]:
B&Massa (vocal/writer), Sp3ccylad (fat drum magic) & Maggie Osterberg (guitarist/producer)

Originally there was this guy with a crap voice and a guitar in bad need of new strings (me) who wrote this song.

On hearing it Maggs said, "Can I give it the band treatment?"

"Sure," I replied and duly despatched the band file. From here, somehow Sp3ccylad got a hold of it (it's a long story and makes no difference how, just glad he did) and suddenly there's a fat groove all over the song like brown on chocolate, Maggie's searing guitar with hot chile sauce and Sp3ccy's amazing voice as a guide track for me. (I tell you, I know how unworthy I am of that honour!)

From here Maggie picks up the baton again and cajoles, advises, encourages and demands better and better vocal takes from me. It's a sort of pygmalian experience. I feel like I've been groomed. It was worth every second, every take, every fluff and retake - this isn't me, I'm not this good, this is some bodysnatcher come into my throat and playing my chords like... well, not like me, anyway.

Thanks Maggie and Sp3ccy - I was deaf and now I hear!

BTW, I wanted to call this online band "The Orson Welles" (I like the name and it's a wordplay on wells, springs of life-giving stuff, plus Orson was a fat beater :D ) and give it it's own jamroom, but Maggs insisted it should be here, so the "label" credit is at least a homage to the name.

Ladies and Gentlemen, big it up for The Orson Welles!
