Dominic Cromie’s The Temp:
This Irish Rock Band is More than Temporary
New York, New York: October 3, 2004 – Positioned successfully in the forefront of the Irish Rock scene, Dominic Cromie’s The Temp presents a remarkable blend of musical miscellany. The Temp pioneers a mix of rock and Celtic grooves, effortlessly combining both original and traditional material to create an unforgettable sound. Having performed live at VH1 with “Jump Start” in 2002, Z100’s live radio show in 2001, as a headliner at the Tulip Festival in Albany in 2000, and the Wembley Arena in England in 1991, Dominic Cromie clearly leaves a permanent mark on stage, catching the eyes and ears of his audience.
Dominic Cromie, originally from Northern Ireland, burst into the United States music scene ten years ago. Writing songs since the age of ten, Cromie’s mix of traditional tunes with original material became an instant success. After touring throughout Ireland, playing electric guitar and singing back up vocals to his sister Aine, Cromie brought to America a sound the public was ready to hear. This sound would later to be known as Celtic Rock.
Once in the United States, Cromie first formed Raglan Road, a popular Celtic rock band where he was the lead vocalist, played guitar and arranged and wrote most of the material. While touring throughout United States and Canada, Cromie describes the effects of his prominent style of music: "The word started to spread about our new band, Raglan Road, and bookings were coming in at a fast pace…[soon] playing five nights a week." Cromie also performs and records regularly with Eamonn O’Rourke, the highly established mandolin, guitar, and fiddle player. O’Rourke currently tours with one of the best country acts across the globe, Cathy Mattea and has also performed with reputable artists including of John McDermott, Anthony Kearns, and Ciarn Sheehan.

After Raglan Road went their separate ways, Cromie formed the band The Temp, with Dominic Cromie on guitars and vocals; Alicia Rau on trumpet, flugelhorn, and vocals; Elise Carter on flutes; Tom Rigney on electric bass, and George Rigney on drums. The band is currently burning up the New York and east coast Irish Rock scene, performing in venues such as the Lions Den and the Lizard Lounge, both of New York, McGeary’s of Albany, and the Half Door of Hartford, Connecticut.
The band's most recent album is entitled The Valley, an eclectic blend of live vocals, counterpoint horn lines, improvisational solos, and polyrhythmic hits from the rhythm section. Look for more of Dominic Cromie’s The Temp in the very near future, for this band is not your average passing group—The Temp is here to stay.
