| My friend David came to me a few weeks ago telling me he had the best lyric for a kick-ass country song. I was unconvinced, even though I liked his lyric: "glass of whiskey and a shot of beer." Like things had gotten so bad for the singer that no, it wasn't a shot of whiskey and a chaser -- it was a full glass of whiskey and then some beer needed. I was skeptical, but once we started writing, it started coming together. We both agreed that since we're not country singers, we shouldn't try a country song. We went for alt rock. This is what we came up with. David, not a singer, lends his nascent vocal talents to back-up vocals. I'm playing my Gibson guitar, trying to do all the changes, which I can't quite do quickly enough, but it's um close .... |
