Zebulon Revisited - James Harris
(updated - August 30)
HISTORY: THE NAME, THE INSPIRATION, THE MUSIC.
I chose the name "Zebulon Revisited" because it represents the resurrection of my old band "Zebulon" - revised, revamped, and revisited to bring quality sounds of the electronica genre with a hint of hip hop influence. For the significance of the word "Zebulon" - well after perusing through some random literature I came upon the word, it struck me like a metal bar in an electrical storm on Venus. I had to use it for something: code name? nah, web name, uhuh, band name? yes! It became the name for my rap band, with myself rapping simultaneously to my drumming on ye ol' Roland drum pads; my sister on keyboards; my brother on bangable objects and/or random noise. I used to sell tapes for $5 to my friends at school, and then I would splurge it on candy - at the age of 10, I could practically get candy whenever I wanted. Now, times have changed - and I'm 19, studying film and music at York university, and life is strangely good.
Well, what about the music? With the aid of GarageBand 3 and Reason 3.0 I have been able to flex my creative muscles and make some serious aural bliss. This site contains the good, the bad, and the "what the hell I'm listening to" - heed the ratings well. My tastes are pretty eclectic - so expect various different genres of music. However the majority of my songs are electronic (yes, of course they are - they were made with a computer!?) - electronic genre mind you. However, you might see the odd jazz or rock song in there too. I have listed my songs in priority of excellence - going from top - best, to bottom - worst. New songs tend to pop up on the bottom too, so that is not necessarily true. Nevertheless, take time to listen - satisfaction is somewhat guaranteed!
ABOUT ME
I'm a fairly creative guy - on my spare time you'd find me either blasting away aliens on the xbox, or banging away on the piano, constructing melodies/beats, or out hanging with friends - usual teenage activity.
Not only am I an electronic music fanatic, I'm quite the film aficianado/fanatic as well. I've made a few crazy movies here and there, where I've acted in them (usually alongside my partner in crime and triple illest red communication, Keen Mark), directed them, filmed them, edited them, composed the music - the whole shebang - it's quite the hobby of mine these days.
I reside in the upper hills of a small town named Georgetown, which happens to be a tad north of Toronto. I live on a horse farm, which might explain some "neighs" in some of my recordings
.
ahem.. what else, well actually if you've come to this point, and are still curious about who the heck I am, and want to get an insight on the daily events of my life, go checkout my blog - at :
http://hamesjarris.blogspot.com/
Now treat your ears to some mad ZR tuneage, innit.
(note: some of my songs I have marked "hidden" because I have felt they either have lost there appeal, weren't worthy, and simply believed they were not necessary. Also, I've been trying to clean up the site a little bit. If you wish that I bring back one of these songs that I'm hidin' away - just let me know, and it's back.)
peace and respect,
James H.
