| This was Stun Nutz's project, so I'll let him tell the tale: "This project started with me contacting Joanna SandsmarkI was interested in doing a collaboration with a vocalist I admired. All I asked of her was to record something strange, offbeat, or psychedelic. She graciously put down some vocals for me (lyrics and melody of her own design) set to a simple bass and drum loop. I took it from there, doing a little nip and tweakadding in some eerie strings and violin (samples courtesy of Kronos Quartets performance of George Crumbs Black Angels part III: The Return) and dropping out the music for an a-capella section (about a third of the way in) surrounded by various distorted sound effects, additional layered drum loops, and other subtle surprises along the way."  | |
