background / biography
With roots in Trinidad, W.I., Georgia, Portugal, Senegal, India, China, Scotland, and New York, Electro, Hip Hop, R&B singer Asia was exposed to everything fron Doo Wop to Hip Hop, Drum & Bass, Reggae and Punk Rock. She was born in Dorchester and raised in Lynn and Roxbury, MA.
As a youth, she was influenced by singers like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Mary J. Blige, and began to train her vocals from the age of five by singing in church, with family and friends, local performance troupes, and touring National productions.
By the time Asia reached 18, she had begun a transformative process of defining her place in the world through immersion in poetry, music, and community building, and media production. With her profound lyrics, eager voice and desire to make a difference she shared messages of unity, positivity, and appreciation of life at local open mic events, schools, and community gatherings.
After learning marketing, photography, video production, music theory and composition among other courses she left her first college in search of a method of blending the message in her music with the sounds in her mind. She enrolled in Audio and Media Production Courses, that exposed her to midi production using Pro Tools, Analog and Digital Recording Hardware. During that time, Asia became a vital resource providing background vocals, hooks, and lessons on business writing and digital recording essentials.
In college, Asia was motivated to begin an adventure. She left college and relocated to the Midwest, first Nevada and is now a resident of Colorado where she currently produces music, visual art, and custom multimedia websites.
She states, "I want to make an impact with art, be provocative, and work hard at it everyday to make it speak for itself."
