Mac music news & MacIDOL news and announcements
by kilroydegeek » Mon Jan 08, 2007 9:58 pm
Macworld is in a few hours and this is probably going to be the biggest since the launch of Garage Band...
AppleInsider wrote:the Cupertino-based company will focus its announcements on two areas -- Macs and home entertainment. He told clients that supply chain sources have indicated that both video iPods with Bluetooth stereo headphones and cell phones are "near/at" their respective manufacturing stages.

Like the sound of the bluetooth headphones. (Provided they go with a decent design.)
Is there going to be something specifically for us, the artists, or will it be more for the consumer? (ie the audience)

Exciting times...
"[Jobs] was more excited about his current project than he was about the Macintosh."
<a href="http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/01/07/yourmoney/mobile.php?page=2">International Herald Tribute</a>
What could be more exciting than the Macintosh?

It looks like iLife '07 and iWork '07 are a dead cert, thanks to a <a href="http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/index.cfm?email&NewsID=16849">blunder</a> by amazon.

Well, iPhone and apple TV are not surprising (although the name "iPhone" is, because of there being another company's product out under that name already - there's a lawyers' picnic!)
The iPhone is being billed as an iPod, a phone and a "desktop class network access device." The latter meaning you'll be squinting at MacIDOL from your iPhone anywhere. It looks like iTunes music store all over again, with iPhone only being available in the US
Maybe iLife 07 is coming but at the time of writing this (after all the hype) iLife is still showing as 06 on Apple's site.

nobody needs an iPhone, and certainly nobody needs an Apple TV, but i can understand the lust
I'm somewhat underwhelmed, especially by the iPhone, which I won't get for years (if ever), even if I could afford one right now, because it's (edit) Probably (/edit) US only.

<strong>Apple Computer Incorporated is dead.</strong>
<strong>God save Apple, Inc</strong>
I think this shows a committed and visible portal to where Apple, Inc are heading.
Cemented by two ultra cool and very desirable products, that when combined with a Mac, make it altogether more holistic. Pointing in the future to a very cool digital lifestyle, me thinks.
But
No iLife '07, No GarageBand 4, No 12" MacBook Pro,
And
No iPhone till autumn for Blighty,
just in time for the holiday season...

fo'get not Apple needs to over come a huge Board blunder. as most know the board did a lil bait n switch to pay Jobs. back in the day it was common practice. and if apple were say... hell i dunno pick a sleeze bag corporation it would be expected.. but p[eople hold apple high on the board "not scammin" end of things. becuz apple doesn't do it.. but this money apple will be handin steve was a quick slip of the wrist to the wallet.
im interested to see what comes of it. prolly nuttin cuz im willin to bet Jobs will take the hi road n return the funds if it looks like it might hurt there stock in anyway shape or form.
one thing fo sho JObs ain't greedy... controlling? maybe. greedy.. i ain't seein it.
i do wish though they stopped this foolishness with ipods, ilife, iwife, itv and da like and get back into
makin computers

99% of the world are over computers. They want tools and toys. iPhone is the ultimate in this, and probably the future (not that we'll see one in Oz for years )
BTW, I discovered this great feature on my mobile the other day. Never knew it was there! It's called V2V/RT: you enter a number, press send, listen to the earpiece and after a while a person speaks on the oher end and you can have a conversation in real time.
So much easier than thumbing in a text message on the keypad or taking a lo-res picture and sending it to somebody who replies, "I don't have MMS, dickhead!"
Airtime's a gouge, though.

Cisco Systems sold the name to Apple for an undisclosed amount, according to Nightly Business Report, which reported that Apple's stock is up 7%.
It also looks like Apple Inc and Apple Corp. have resolved some of their issues because I noticed that Sgt. Peppers featured prominently on the iPhone playlist, during Job's presentation, on several different news reports.
