Anybody going/performing/headlining at this years Reading Festival?
I will be hauling the official MacIDOL Marquee to Reading for the first time, and I thought it would be nice to meet up with any other MacIDOLers too. We could sing songs, swap chords, drugs, partners (I hope Sue ain't reading this lol) and who knows what else!
Tips for Reading Noobs:
Where should I try and park the 2 man tent? - I mean The OFFICIAL MacIDOL Entertainment Complex
I am looking for a location preferably away from any rivers of poo/wee etc.
BTW: To our International visitors it's pronounced Redding, and is not a book festival, this is a bona-fide ROCK festival, with lots of genuine mud, beer and all the other required elements.

Look for a mound or top of slope, make sure it's not a burial mound.
Have good one Rich and all

Thanks for the tips Birthday Boy!
A burial mound might be useful after the festivities - just leave me there!
BTW: Jasmine loves your avatar.

Stay away from the faery paths - there's nothing worse than being stood on by a tripping hippy in the early hours

So, seriously Rich, do you really trot an MI display off to the festies? That's sooooo cool! Does it cost any extra?
On places to avoid camping, anywhere forward of the stage. There's nothing worse than waking up with a hangover to the full day 2 soundcheck!

No, I was trying to be funny.... We are just taking a very cheap, tent. Mind you, I could customise it

I sat in on a set by the Nev Hawkins Band (see MySpace) on percussion at the Swiss Cottage Community Festival yesterday. It Happens!
I really want to be in a band , being on stage is soooo good.

Me too, I must admit that I was a little jealous and envious of some of the talent I saw at Reading.
I missed a lot of great bands. I somehow lost my way...
I did see the last song by the Arctic Monkeys, the first couple by Franz Fucking Ferdinand (well that's what the t shirts say!), the full Kaiser Chiefs set (excellent), Pearl Jam and Placebo, who had gear trouble, but even that was good. The best band I saw, was not one that I imagined I would really like and that was Muse! They are a family favourite, even Jasmine sings along to them at home, but they are an incredible live band. Superb musicians. Made me feel like tossing my tele on the camp fire, one helluva band.
Had a great time, camped in the White campsite, which is only reached by a ferry to the festival. But a lot more laid back and relaxed than the main campsites. I missed the opportunity of having penis grafitti/vomit/wee/poo thrown all over my tent by rampaging teenagers though. Looked like a lot of fun tho....
Here are some pics of our excursion to Reading. Hi De Hi Campers.

Glad to see you survived the trip. I heard that Muse were that good. Seems like they are topping playist everywhere at the moment. Sorry to hear you missed a few bands but seems inevitable. I heard there were that many excellent acts that it was easy to get stuck between them in the spectacle of the event as a whole.
Oh and if watching Muse makes you want to throw your Tele away... please hold off until I can get down the M11 to catch it.
Going again next year? Oh but no.... its GLASTONBURY.
Save the bees.
