Eggshell Walk (with ziti)

Postby jiguma » Sat Jun 24, 2006 6:07 am

"Doing The Eggshell Walk" was written late last year in response to Iraq, the Bali bombings and the general level of hysteria about the way the world (and Australia) is changing. Fran Dagostino (some of you may know Fran as "ziti") suggested he'd like to do a solo for me, and the song here is the result. This is a June 2006 remix using Logic Express.

Oooh, a sweet and powerful wall of sound, and a bittersweet and powerful message, too.

Beautiful

Really nice . . . and the guitar work really serves the song. Lyrically the lines that really struck me were

Im scared to turn the news on
In the morning
Dont know what might happen
In my sleep

That really captures how my own life changed after September 11. Now every time I open up a news site web page in the morning, part of me is quietly braced inside to face news about another huge terrorist attack in some Western city that has killed thousands.

Great, honest work.

If you're going to have a wall of sound, then I suspect Fran's the man! Thanks for the visit and the listen.

Thanks Eddie, for listening and leaving some kind words. The line that gets to me most (even though I did write it) is "Just think about it".
Cheers,

i think i recall catching this song over at macjams. it's actually better than i remember it, but mainly because as soon as i began playing it, it all came back.

my taste for politics in songs remains such that i don't care for them... i don't dislike them, either; it's just that so many times a political song is more about the message than the song.

for me, this song is the contrary to that. it's a great song with some fabulous vocal work and terrific guitar work. but again, overall, this is just a very well produced and well performed song. i'm glad you ported if over to MacIdol.

in fact, i'd love to see/hear more of your stuff here. a heartful spirit is always a welcome presence in these old woods and laymen streets, for sure!

also, Eddie was right... those lyrics are extremely poignant. they hold true for events that have passed, but ironically, they hold true as one might look to the future as well. scary? yeah it is.

thank you for sharing yourself here! peace out!

It's got that sort Jackson Browne, Lives In The Balance, great tune thing going, but with a message in there for those who care about it, but not preachily so, dontcha reckon ;)

Hi Boris,

thanks for the listen and your kind comments. I've started slowly moving songs here, and on the way, am trying to remix and clean up as much as possible. Some of the really early ones are a bit beyond this process, so will be doing some new versions also. This is the second "new, improved" one ("Careful of the Undertow" being the first, although that version has been around for a while now). I'm hoping for one a week.

Having some interesting times finding my way around here, and also meeting up with lots of both new and familiar people.

Cheers,
Neil
