Northern Road

I think I'm going to like it here!

I've just uploaded another (my "Music" page was looking a little light-on).

Northern Road is another "place" song - about the singer/songwriter in my first serious band who left the band and the city for a (albeit very beautiful) girl and a country life "up north". It had a big impact on us all at the time. 34 years is a long time, and I think I've gotten over it :D

Pedal steel is loop based - 3 GB loops sliced and spliced until they fit (serious eye strain was the result).

Hope you like it.

Neil

Very nice jiguma! I play the harp too, what kind is it? - It's got a nice sound!

If you get the time listen in to my contest even if it's just to hear some of the best music at MacIDOL!

Here's a link to the New Tunes page - maybe you can catch a few and learn about some of the music that's done here.

Thanks Fosco, I've just started listening to your show - we share an enthusiasm for Jim Bouchard (and Kelli too of course) - he's been one of my favourites for some time (on another site). I'm looking forward to see whatever else you come up with. I have to say that I don't have a lot of time to listen, so your show is very helpful for me.

The harp is a Hohner Silver Star (in A) which I just bought before recording Northern Road - hadn't played harp for around 45 years (since I was a kid).

Enjoying your show!

Cheers,

I was beginning to think this was autobiographical Neil

But then I re-read the intro and realize it was about Ian and not you.

Very cool song my friend that I really, really liked. Tells a story of dreams we want, dreams we get and the nightmare they can become. Excellent lyrics and although to me it sounded like you were having to work at it, the vocal came out just fine. Am I right in assuming this is not a great key for you. If so, you covered it well.

That said, this is a killer song Neil that I very much like a lot.

Be well and be cool,
