Snap, Crackle, Pop?

Postby Fosco » Tue Feb 28, 2006 3:04 pm

Just curious what others think about this. When I listen to other people's songs and when I check out my own I hear a crackle sound that I don't believe should be there. Anyone else hearing this? If so, is there a way to avoid it?

Fosco, the problem is with Quicktime 7.0.4. The upgrade from Apple is flawed - so far no fix is available. It is very annoying and I have been looking for a solution now for weeks. One (bad) option is to download a "retrograde" from Apple that reverts you back to QT 7.0.1. However, if you have GarageBand3, this will not work for you, because GB3 requires QT 7.0.4 to even open up.

Wow. Now I sound like a geek. Help!

Tom do you not use iTunes to listen to songs? When I go to a song page opposed to the QuickTime link provided in the jam rooms things sound the same to me.

But most the time I listen via the stream fuction usin iTunes.

Very strange. At first I was thinking the Hobbit needed to just simply take a long walk and get some fresh air

But I have read people are having this problem but I am not. :?

Ok foget this post. I just realized I still have 7.0.1 looks like I'll be keeping it that way

Carry on, sorry

The problem is with 7.0.4. I would go back to 7.0.1 but I have GB3. Hike!

I do use Quicktime to listen, not only here but at some other (unnamed) sites where QT is the only option. Plus, I stream songs on my own website and they snap, crackle & pop the entire time the file is being downloaded. Arggghh!

I got the same problem! Like listening to a bowl of the said in the morning. Annoying and I hope there's a fix soon. Downloads don't do it however, so downloading is the answer for now.

I thought it sounded like the odd clicks heard on a well loved vinyl record. It made my Mrs Jones song sound okay :P
