if i could just take a small piece of your brain and chew on it like a gummi treat, perhaps i could better understand the creative place where this kind of work originates. "bloody brilliant," as Ron Weasley might say.

seriously, this is one of those pieces that can't be looked at in the "hey, this is catchy!" because it's not. it's rare to find an artist who can draw from the cerebral AND gutteral creative areas, but you always seem to do it. it's totally inspiring, maggie!

on the music front, the bass did seem a bit much in the foreground. perhaps it's the output on this end, but from here it overpowered the vocals a bit.

other than that, this is an excellent addition into the arsenal of cool you have constructed.

Excellent MacIdoler! High Recommend! A+++++ Will Listen to again!....

;) ;) ;)

I just tweaked the EQ and the bass mix- delete the copy from last night and download the song again. The new one sounds much better. Many, many thanks to Boris!

Nice 'un! I like that off rhythm, grungy post punk bluesyness an awful lot. This song's got style to spare and it now resides comfortably on my black & red iPod! 8)

rockin' Mags!

Thanks for the extra set of ears, Boris- your comments really helped me narrow in on what it needed.

Funny you should mention Julee Cruise- on another board a friend said this about the song:

Sounds a bit Angelo Badalamenti-ish....

I keep waiting for the midget in the red room and the log lady to make an appearance. (good thing)

Thanks for making my very tired self a very happy self. (I was up until 4:15AM working on this. GB3 is a fantastic program, but it pushes my Mac to the very edge of working.)

Jeeze: somebody stop the room swaying.

It's Fear And Loathing On The Stamen Island Ferry.

Cuts right to the intuitive, does mosterberg's latest. Back in the recesses of my mind, it actually has a sense of menace that I've only experienced once in my life when I entered a benighted store just off Interstate 10 in Kent, TX (sorry, make the benighted store the whole of Kent, as it really was that deserted) and got the chilling phrase "You ain't from round here; are you boy?" as I perused the dust-covered Wrigley's in a somewhat disoriented travel-addled state of mind.

I told him no, I'd come from Eugene, OR and left in a colossal hurry. Scary shit.

Like when you get too drunk, and it stops making sense.

Like this fractured little gem. Wow.

I think I've been in that Quik-E-ScareMart, too. YIKES!!!

A big tip of the gin-soaked fedora has to go to Sp3ccy, as it was at his behest that I "just do something half-assed and send it to [him]." So, I started out with my half-assed percussion tracks and then my half-assed, woozy guitar and since I really couldn't send him something that half-assed, I stayed up all night making something worth sending him. To my surprise, at some point it stopped sounding half-assed and started sounding like a song.

I also took a page out of his book, which I promise to put back, really I do, and soon (sorry about the ripping and wot) wherein one piddles at a project in bits and pieces, where one can, until something coherent (or wobbly, such as it is) comes out.

The funny thing, I hadn't a thing to drink, aside from some caffeine-free Dr. Pepper, during the making of this. Guess it was a contact high from Sir Sp3cs.
