Downloads in the Jamroom as per usual for you connoiseurs
This came about from a (quip?) comment by Kilroy about lofi Punk and Rockabilly for his Blues Radio
There isn't a Genre for Rockabilly so I don't know where it's all hiding. This one is a Love Song in the Fifties "I love you coz you can dance and it means we can get out from my parents house and hang out with the gang, even though that's what we always do, let's share a Soda" kind of way.
I've been working on it for three weeks, but it really happened last night with new lyrics, and a proper 'cobbled together and editd' software Bass.
And singing into my guitar
(There are three other whole songs yet to emerge from this project)
Enough! It Rocks! Go Listen. Better yet, Go Dance!
PS There is a vacancy for Lead guitar on this track (in this band, truth be known )
PPS I should say that this version was uploaded at 10.30am forum time and has the proper vocal on it - last night in a haze I uploaded the prelim vcl (sheesh).
this version has also been Audaciously optimised and panned better.
Apart from that it was a good Haze

Thank you Sir. Glad to know you get a decent tea break at that income provider of yours.
I think the Genre (ahem) Rockabilly comes from the Music being a more Hick version of Rock'n'roll, with more emphasis on the Hillbilly roots. More of an amalgamation of Western Swing and Blues, than the standard Country/Blues mix. But then Bill Haley came out of Western Swing so I could be way off.
Enjoy the floorboards there

Rockabilly? - It's hillbilly rock: a little country, a little unsophisticated, but definitely music for the neck, down (dancing!)
Waiting for the download (this has got to be the year of broadband for me!), tick, tock...

Kinda skiffley too. Good solid R&B song with that special Gumbo duo sound.
Reminds me too of ma yoof. A friend showed me how to make a tea chest bass. Sounded ok too.

Glad you liked it, guys.
Takes me back as well. I went into Rockabilly and RnR instead of Punk, and my first concert was Carl Perkins and Bo Diddley in 1978 when they were old men in their 40's
It's been a long time
I'm thinking skiffle was like GarageBand in the 50's . That sudden "we can do this" buzz. Loads of great bands started in Skiffle. Did you ever record any of that Tea chest, Paul?

this is one genre that macidol could use a lot more of! this song was a lot of fun and reminded me of the old school music my dad and i used to listen to. he edumacated me on the genre very well, and i still love it!
as for the origins, well, from what i recall it is primarily American and started in the south. it's an energetic fusion of hillbilly boogie, country, blues, and bluegrass styles. full of rebellion against the mainstream pop of the mid-50s.
it's become a favorite of most retro bands, and even extends globally to places like Japan where bands like Shonen Knife and The 5.6.7.8's (who were featured in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill) echo the tradesmith work of Dick Dale, Bill Haley, and yeah, Carl Perkins. of course, nobody does it better nowadays than Brian Setzer, in my humble opinion!
nice and fun on this one! thanks!!

Hey all these hep cats hangin' at the Macdol pad. Craazy!
Fosco
"almost a month", you have a good memory, Sir. One of the highlights of my career thank you.
Toe Tappers - good name for an album
Rob - A "walk down scale" hhmm? Qu'est que c'est?? You got an example? It's a great genre for forgettin' about the serious stuff, alright.
Maggie and Boris
I really should watch Kill Bill, huh! I know Charlie Feathers is on there somewhere, too. Brian Sezer is/was pretty cool. You can hear me shouting on Drink that Bottle Down (live single version) if you listen carefully (well you can pretend you can - I was there and shouting!) Early Stray Cats were excellent, stepping out of the box, Link Wray too he had a great sound - pretty raw.
I need a telecaster too. it's mad trying to do lead work on an acoustic.
