I haven't been very active lately because I was working on another project. But I got a small window of time to play so naturally, I opened GarageBand. The reult is When He Met She.
I'm still trying to adjust to new equipment, so I'll probably have to tweak the mix over the next couple of days. Any thoughts, good or bad, would be appreciated (and would save me from making the wrong adjustments).

personally, i think it hits just right. for me, this is a sweet follow-up to a style that seems so natural for you.
my only wish would be to hear the word "loss" extended like a snake hissing. "a total lossssssss..." but of course, that's jussssst me.
in my ear i can hear a muted trumpet. or maybe a sax. some kind of jazzy horn thingy. i can just hear it. fwah... fwah, fwahhh fwaaamp
wonderful piece, joanna. i'm delighted you found a window to create. thanks for posting it for us!
... now get back to work!

Boris, I went back and tried to put some trumpet to it. First, I did my own fake trumpet (the one where I imitate a trumpet with my voice) just to get a feel for what I might do. Then, after desperately trying to get a muted trumpet, but to no avail, I laid down some keyboard trumpetting. I'm undecided about it and will wait until tomorrow to see if it works. Part of me wants to keep it as is, because I fear my own bad playing will wreck it. Part of me wants to try something new.
I'll decide later.
As for getting back to work, I've been going at it like a fiend for the past few weeks. I need this break, now that it's been turned in. Playing on GB has become my #1 stress reliever. Sometimes I just feel songs building up inside me until I'm ready to burst! I feel soooo much better tonight because I got to play a little. Good song or bad, it doesn't matter. It did the trick. Ain't life grand?

This is so true - great stress reliever! [Although in my own case, I don't know about songs building up inside!]
And your song is a good one too - don't need to mess with it imo.

Boris, you have an uncanny ability to hear instrumentz in yer head... I can do that tooooooo. However, It usually turnz out to be a car horn blasting and someone flippin me offffffff
Joanna, as I listend to yer new song and read Boris's suggestion of the hornz the song seemed to shout out over and over "Put in some Hornzzz."
Soooooooo, try and make it worke if you can!

Okay, I uploaded a new version of the song. Desperate to add a muted trumpet, I had to do a little improvising. I don't have a muted trumpet software instrument and can't afford to buy anything right now. So I did my patented impersonation of a trumpet (both muted and plain) with my voice. Hope it works for ya! I also redid the vocals because of a comment from a friend of mine. So it's kind of all brand new, in a way.

Thanks, Robert. I'm pretty sure the hiss is from the muted trumpet. I usually have to sing very close to the mic for it to register correctly, but I couldn't do that when imitating a muted trumpet (I have to use my hands to simulate a mute). So it was a very quiet take. I had to push it with high volume and duped tracks to get it to sound okay. That left a wee bit of hiss. Truth is, I never care all that much about stuff like that. Perhaps it because I used to use the built-in mic all the time. Anyway, I can live with hiss, no problem.
Glad you enjoyed it!
