Howdy All,

I’m in the process of finishing up my latest collection of tunes for my next album. I was thinking of asking someone else to mix the songs, just to get a different set of ears on them. Then I thought... I know so many really talented people, all of which would do a bang up job mixing. So why not just throw it open to everyone and have a little fun with it.

So here’s the deal. I’m posting the session files for your downloading pleasure. I will also post a reference mix of each song. Mix each song to your hearts content. Then send them to me. If I like it... it’s on the album. If your mix doesn’t make it... don’t get mad... get better :^). As mixes are submitted they will be posted for all to hear. Full details are available on the web site.

And what will you get for all your hard work? Well... other than credit on the album and my undying admiration.... bubkiss, nada, not a thing. Sounds great, right? So what are you waiting for... Head over to http://www.mixmyalbum.info and get to work!

This was fun because the songs were pretty much already mixed to a large degree, so all I had to think about was how to bring out the best in the song, what resonated with my sensibilities, and keep the basic feel. I elected to strip things back in that case, and maximize the sound of the essential bits and then slowly reintroduce the additional elements that worked. It was a great exercise in making mixing decisions, and well worth the time I spent on it. It didn't take too long because the basic elements were pretty solid. Thanks, Keith!
